Gender-related stereotypes often cause a certain orientation to be attributed to the way one dresses and uses one's body, over and above what are the inherent characteristics of an individual. This is why the willingness to attach a label to one's identity must remain extremely personal and can only come from ourselves. From this point of view, the path of Iris Spatola is exemplary, who has chosen not to leave aside the term “trans” to define herself-unlike what might be the will of other women like her-because she believes it is necessary to remember, even if only to herself, the path that led her to be who she is now.
